John Levy is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of theScore. A highly successful and experienced media entrepreneur, John has built theScore into one of the most exciting and forward-thinking companies in the sports media and betting industry. theScore engages and empowers millions of fans through innovative digital media and sports betting products. The flagship ‘theScore’ app is one of the most popular mobile sports media platforms in North America and seamlessly integrates with the company’s award-winning mobile sports betting product ‘theScore Bet’.

 

John’s visionary approach led to theScore becoming the first media company in North America to create and launch a sportsbook. theScore Bet debuted in the U.S. 2019 and recently launched in its home territory of Ontario in 2021. Supported by custom built, cutting-edge technology, the mobile sportsbook offers users a completely unique and deeply integrated experience that fuses media and betting.

 

In addition to mobile sports media and sports betting, theScore operates North America’s preeminent esports media destination, ‘theScore esports.’ Launched in 2015, theScore esports has become an influential worldwide leader in competitive gaming coverage, generating hundreds of millions of video views each month.

 

theScore is a wholly owned subsidiary of PENN Entertainment (PENN: NASDAQ). PENN acquired theScore in October 2021 in a deal that brought together two industry leaders to create North America’s leading digital sports media, gaming and technology company.

 

John initially founded theScore cable television network in the mid-1990s, growing it to become Canada’s leading independent sports broadcaster. Following its sale to Rogers Media in 2012, John carved out theScore’s digital assets and evolved them into one of the first multi-sport news and data apps in North America. Previously, John led the development and growth of his family’s cable television business, Cableworks Communications Ltd., a leading multi-system cable operator in Canada.
